Programming for Our Youth

We must do all we can to expand afterschool programs for the students of Athens-Clarke County, and help provide affordable child care options for those with the greatest need in our community. In addition, we must promote equity by providing increased access to youth programs for families who cannot afford such programs. These types of enrichment programs will only aid the advancement of our youth and help to end the school-to-prison-pipeline. Our county must also increase social infrastructure for trauma services and wraparound services to children and families.

Developing Youth Facilities for Displaced Children

Athens-Clarke County is experiencing a crippling shortage of homes for foster children. As a guardian ad litem, I knows firsthand that there is a desperate need for foster families, youth homes, and facilities in our county. Our children deserve to stay in their communities to alleviate disruption as much as possible. At the county government level, we can provide increased training, marketing and services to help our community understand the need for homes and facilities.
